Depressing Story

A few years ago, my aunt died of advanced cancer. She was kind of old (sorta) so she'd lived a lot, and I like to think her life was filled with lots of things.
I only have vague memories of her, since she left for Portland (that's in Oregon, kiddies) when I was still quite young. I remember in third grade, sending her a paper doll (for class, I swear) that she dressed up in fur, and wrote back to me about going whale watching. I wonder if I still have it somewhere...
As far as aunts go, she's the one with the most sentiment attached to her. I vaguely remember her house in the mountains (here in Hawaii) and just how dreamlike it was. I remember her smile and laugh, so unique and friendly. As long as I live, I"ll remember those things.
Tonight was the Relay for Life, an event bringing cancer awareness to the forefront. Tonight, some of my friends walk the endless walk to fight the disease. Tonight, I think about them, and all of us, who have felt loss and pain.
And although I do not pray, do not believe...
Tonight I pray. Tonight, I believe.

Protest

I've lived in Hawaii for the entirety of my life, and I never thought that I would be witness to such a vehement protest.
On my college campus today, a Born-Again Christian group protesting homosexuality (among other things) brought its radical (the elitist kind, not the hip, 90's slang type) message to an unwilling audience. My first thought at hearing their bellicose message was this: "This is the kind of stuff you only see on the Mainland!" (apologies to those who live on the continent, I mean no disrespect)
I simply found it to be incredible that a group with such a divisive message would spend time and money to come all the way to Hawaii simply to promulgate an unfavorable message to such a hostile audience.

For those wondering, I am completely for equality and support rights of those with lifestyles different from my own. But, I also support the right of everyone to say what they truly believe. While I am saddened by these individuals aggressive message (apparently, I'm going to hell with everyone else), I also support their right to voice their opinions.

Regardless, I am still debating whether or not to make a "[citation needed]" sign... (read more xkcd)

That's supposed to be Leia

Yes, I am quite aware that I'm an awful artist.

"The Second" Coming Soon!

I've recently been talking with a good friend (a girl, woo hoo~) about religion. To be honest, religion isn't really my favorite bag-o-marbles, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a boast to say that I'm intimately familiar with religion as a whole.
Regardless of my beliefs, dinosaurs are MOST DEFINITELY atheist, probably because they can't accept a creator who'd toss a giant asteroid at them and then be all like "whoops, mah bad, we cool dawg?" (Note: God/other divine spirits don't actually talk like that, except on the interwewbs).
